Minutes for Province VII Assembly – Little Rock, Arkansas
March 30, 2019
Meeting called to order by President Judy Bordelon with prayer. Read Ephesians 3:17, which she has chosen as her verse for the triennium.
Tory Arnold gave a report of what the Junior DOK have been doing. Said that they were expecting 25, but only have 4 in attendance. She said she is willing to travel to any Diocese that are interested in forming Junior Chapters, and that you can call her and she will help you in any way she can.
Judy then went over the agenda for the business meeting. The full reports can be found on the Province VII web site. http://dokprov7.org Let your chapters know the board are here to help you.
Judy introduced Sam Keith as the DALI chair. Then asked those who had served on the National Council to stand, then all who had held National offices, then Province offices, Diocesan offices, and Chapter Presidents, past and present. She also said there is a need for a Province VII newsletter, and asked for a volunteer. It would be “on line” and done quarterly.
Judy then thanked Wanda Dunwoody and the Daughters who worked so hard to host this Assembly.
Judy asked for any additions or corrections to the minutes, there being none, Andrea Hale made a motion they be accepted as read, Kim Najera seconded, motion carried.
Andrea Hale gave the Treasurers report. She asked for a motion to approve the outreach grants, motion made by Deborah Tischler, seconded by Missy Denny, motion carried. A total income of $26,678.29 was reported, with expenses of $20347.24, showing an excess of income over expenses of $2,275.91. Dues are down, as records need to be cleaned up, starting at chapter level. We are at approximately 22% unpaid at this time.
The next Assembly will be held in Kansas City, March 26 – 19, 2020. Judy is working to see if a joint assembly with Province IV can be planned for 2021 in New Orleans.
Next Judy asked if everyone had receive the changes to the bylaws, if appeared that they had, she asked for any questions pertaining to the changes. The changes were minor, mostly to take out redundant wording, and to make sure everything was in compliance with the National Bylaws. Terry Krawitz made a motion the changes be made to the bylaws, seconded by Annette Matthews. Motions carried. She thanked Nancy Steward, Parliamentarian and Bylaws chair for all her hard work on this. A link to the changes will be put on the Prov VII web site.
Judy then stressed that information should be distributed at the chapter level. She went over the items that each chapter should have; Handbook, Manual, Study Guide, and Book of services. All these can be found on the National Website. www.doknational.org Instruction was given on national website, must be a Daughter in good standing to access. Judy then went over each of the policies of the Order; Cross, dues assistance, no fund raising, travel and mileage, trademark, and reconciliation. All these will be posted on the Province VII website http://dokprov7.org Lifetime dues were explained. Since we cannot “fund raise”, it was explained we can ask our Bishop and Parish for help, charge enough for Assemblies that there is money left over, and take an offering for the work of the Order.
The four funds were explained. Funds of the Order are, Self-Denial fund (Feb 2), Master’s Fund, (Pentecost) Endowment Fund (Nov 1) and the Alpha Fund (Sept 5). A full explanation of the works of each fund can be found in the National Hand Book. Judy explained that the Strategic Plan was developed from the questionnaire that was sent out last year. A booklet giving an outline of the Strategic Plan is in everyone’s packet.
Daughters Going Deeper certificates were given to those who had finished the 2 year program by the chair of the Oversite Committee, Deborah Tischler.
Judy went over the worship opportunities for tomorrow, and closed with prayer.
Business meeting adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Donna Meyer, Secretary

Nominations for Province VII Executive Board
and DAL Delegate to Triennial for 2021-2023
The following slate has been submitted by the Nominating Committee comprised of Diane Bernheimer, Denise Rox and Committee Chair, Pat Hind.
Andrea Hale
Nominee for President
When I first heard of Daughters of the King I was instantly interested, as I felt the Order would offer opportunity for me to grow spiritually. Fifteen years later I can say that my years in the Order have been some of the most formative in my spiritual life. Over the years I have served in the Order in the following ways:
I attend St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in El Dorado and am a charter member of the Mary & Martha Chapter. At St. Mary’s I am currently involved in Altar Guild, ECW and the Hospitality Committee and have served as a Vestry member, church school teacher and youth leader. I am employed as Church Administrator for El Dorado First United Methodist Church and I enjoy working with clergy, staff and members helping to fulfill ministry goals. My husband and I have three granddaughters, all under the age of 3, which give us great joy. While not spending time with grandchildren, I can be found working in the yard or volunteering as a Master Gardener. I am truly grateful for the focus of prayer and service that being a Daughter provides and the opportunity to meet other women who encourage and challenge me in my Christian life.
Suzanne Spradling
Nominee for Vice-President
When All Souls Episcopal parish installed its first chapter, named All Souls, March 27, 2011, I was one of the founding members and elected as vice president that first year. Even though we were a new chapter we hosted the Province VII spring assembly the next year, when I became president. In 2015 I was invited to run for President of our Oklahoma Diocese and was elected at our spring assembly. It has been an honor and pleasure to serve as president since then. In each of my positions, I have been blessed with Daughters who work well together and foster the call to bring others to Christ.
As Diocesan president, I have had the opportunity to serve on the Province VII board and have learned so much from my fellow board members. Being president has afforded me the chance to get to know the other chapters around our state and work with those chapters in varied situations and events. Our spring assembly attendance has continued to grow, slowly, but grow. Our annual fall retreat to St. Crispin’s diocesan conference center and camp is another highlight that members look forward to.
Building relationships is a key component to being a Daughter. I look forward to meeting and working with Daughters wherever I encounter them. Developing, organizing and executing plans and events which bring people closer to Christ is a passion of mine. I enjoy the process and implementation. As a professional educator, I take joy in fostering excitement for learning. As a Daughter, I want to foster the excitement in growing closer to Christ.
It is through prayer, service and evangelism opportunities that I have and continue to evolve in my relationship with the Lord and my fellow daughters. I pray that this journey continues to move me closer to Christ.
Renate A. Walker
Nominee for Secretary
I am seeking Nomination to serve as Recording Secretary. To this position I believe I bring an excellent set of oral and written skills. As a team player, I will attend all meetings and conference calls in order to provide a timely and accurate account of discussions and decisions in the form of minutes, which will also be used as historical documentation of the business conducted.
I share a loving, spiritual and happy life with my husband Robert and together we have raised six children and have six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Wanda Dunwoody
Nominee for Treasurer
I am honored to be nominated as Province VII Treasurer. If elected, I will bring to this position experience with budgets, QuickBooks, and financial statements. I have been in charge of budgets up to $500,000 and just completed a six-year term as secretary of a national Foundation that has a $40,000,000 endowment. I know I will need to provide financial information to support decisions made by Province VII members and be a faithful custodian of its finances.
As a DOK member, my greatest joy is training discernment classes. My DOK journey:

I became a Daughter 41 years ago. I was a member of Church of The Epiphany in Houston TX. In a few years, I served as chapter president. In 1988, my family and I moved to Church of the Ascension, I formed a chapter with 23 members in 1989. In 1992, I was elected to the TX Diocesan Board and became TX DOK President in 1993. In 1997, I was elected Province 7 President; in 2000 elected DOK National 1st VP; in 2003 elected DOK National President. I am now a Daughter At Large.
I am most grateful that the Lord allowed me to form the first chapter in the Middle East at Christ Church Jerusalem!
